Twelve dominoes · one board · two knocks
Every domino has a letter at each end. Lay one on the board so that everything it spells is a real word, across or down. Two letters at a time, and they have to stay joined.
Drag a domino onto a ✦ centre square. It is not placed yet: move it about, press ↻ TURN to try it the other ways round, then press the green PLACE button. Red means it will not go there.
Drag a domino onto a square, or tap the domino and then the square. Nothing is placed until you say so. While you are holding it you can drag it around the board, press ↻ TURN to run through the ways it will go on that square, or put it back. The button underneath turns green and reads PLACE when the placement works, and red when it does not.
Every unbroken run of two or more letters, across or down, must be a word. Two-letter words matter enormously here, which is why the whole list is one tap away.
A ✱ half can be any letter. You choose which when you place it, it is then fixed, and it scores nothing.
Letter values are shown on each tile. Premium squares count only on the turn they are covered, and letter bonuses apply before word bonuses. Long words pay, and pay well: five letters is worth 15 on top, six 40, seven 80, eight 120. Two-letter words will always get you out of trouble, but they will never win you the day.
Get all twelve down and you take a 100 point bonus.
The game ends when the last domino goes down, or when nothing will go and you have no knocks left. One set of dominoes a day, the same set for everybody.
Twelve dominoes · one board · two knocks
Drag a domino out of the rack onto a square, or tap the domino and then the square. It is not placed yet. While you are holding it you can drag it around the board to try somewhere else, press ↻ TURN to run through the ways it will go on that square, or press ✕ to put it back in the rack. A domino can go either way round and either way up, so there are up to eight; TURN offers only the ones that work.
The button underneath is the commit. It turns green and reads PLACE when the placement makes words, and red and dead when it does not, with the reason above it. Nothing goes down until you press it.
If nothing in your rack will go, knock. Your rack goes back in the bag and you draw a fresh five. Two knocks a game.
A knock needs something left in the bag. Once the bag is empty there is no fresh set to draw, so if the last few dominoes will not go, that is the game. The board tells you which ones beat you.
